Blood Diamonds

Leonardo Di Caprio suddenly seems to look so grown....I know Titanic was quite a long time ago now, but he always looked like a kid.

Seeing him at the centre of much controversy when he attended the premier of his latest film, Blood Diamond, in London last week he looked like a man!

Set against the backdrop of the 1990s Sierra Leone Civil War, Blood Diamond is the story of Danny Archer (Leonardo DiCaprio), who is an ex-mercenary from Zimbabwe and a local fisherman.

Both are African, but their circumstances are very different until they join in a common quest to recover a rare pink diamond, which is the kind of stone that can transform a life … or destroy it.


Enter Maddy Bowen (Jennifer Connelly), playing an idealistic American journalist determined to uncover the truth behind conflict or blood diamonds, exposing diamond industry leaders who have chosen profits over principles.


The Kimberley Process has been introduced to stop the use of diamonds being used to fund wars, but the national press are doubtful of its effectiveness and this movie has raised the subject with a vengeance.

Hopefully if Mr Di Caprio purchased any diamonds during the filming he has full proof of their provenance. Mind you...theres not a diamond in site!
